At least once per year I photograph each of our children, generally around their birthdays. Our oldest tends to miss out on outdoor sessions since he is a December baby. He came to me a few months ago, after I photographed our youngest and incorporated the theme “Bear” after his nickname. Will asked if I could do a Minecraft inspired session for him and here we are, meet Steve from Minecraft!
We hired a wonderful local face painter, Lexi, you can check her out here.
She did a great job painting his face and arms to appear more like a 16 bit Minecraft character!
During the planning of this I watched Will play Minecraft a few times, trying to wrap my head around what this game was all about. Steve seems to be a survivalist of sorts? Hunts for food, trains his wolf and takes on “bad guys”.
And he’s off! It’s time he goes and finds his wolf, he needs his daily training.
Phew, found him. Now sit! Is that how you train a wolf? …insert confused emoji
No worries, he isn’t sad. When I asked why he was making this face his response “ugh, no Mom, I’m not sad this is what Steve looks like!” Oh, ok, got it buddy.
Steve is a busy dude, fighting bad guys, training animals and building shelter.
His wolf clearly needs more training. He just lays around all the time sheesh!
So there you go Will, I am sure these will soon be ordered in print and hung all over his bedroom walls… this was a fun and creative personal session for an amazing and deserving boy. He had a ton of fun and I enjoy any excuse for a little one on one time with each of our children and creating artwork of them is just the icing on the cake!
I love you so much Will, keep being the amazing boy that you are.
