Winter maternity sessions are always so so beautiful. I love the bright and airy look of them with icy or snowy backgrounds.
On this day it was about 21 degrees. Which is completely fine with me. I arrive in hat, gloves and winter coat. But my poor clients who have to stand in cold without any layers on and follow my cues. How do they do that?!
We went over to one of my favorite places in Leominster, Barrett Park. I love this area because there are several different options of areas to photograph families and couples. I especially love this one location by the bridge that has white birch trees around it. During this session is was pretty bright out, and the sun bounced off the snow acting as a natural reflector. In this location the light came from the right which allowed me to perfectly place her for that sun glow around her hair giving the image this very airy, soft and gentle image. I love how it tells a story. A delicate time expecting a first child.
During my one hour maternity sessions I photograph the couple in casual outfits, of their choice. I am always available to help with coordinating outfits and providing feedback or suggestions. Then for the second part of the session we use a gown from my studio closet. The one Steph is wearing here is actually one that I found on amazon and had not previously photographed. I brought it along with another gown she had selected from my website gallery and she ended up opting for this gorgeous green one. It really looks amazing on her, I think it was a perfect choice!
I think my favorite image from this session is this one…
I absolutely love the frozen pond behind her and how cold and crisp the air feels in the image. You can almost feel the cold air looking at the image. She looks incredible and is beautifully posed. Would you believe she is at the very end of her pregnancy, due in just a few weeks from the session date?! Amazing!
Steph and Tim are expecting their first child in just a week or so! I can’t wait to meet their little addition to their family.
Thanks for checking in to see the latest in maternity sessions. I am working on another blog that will show each of the gowns and explain the sizing and length details so keep an eye out for that!
