The fall family session season is in full swing! I am one busy bee these days, capturing memories for beautiful families with their beautiful children. It’s a great joy to see clients return with their children I have photographed in the past, and also to meet new families. This year I have been focusing on not only posed images, that families often like to display on the walls of their home, but also incorporating more candid images. Capturing children just as they are, their curiosity, playful laughter and love for their parents. I also will be offering Lifestyle Newborn Sessions in the very near future, super excited about this! More on that later.
Today I am going to share a recent family session with two year old toddler twins. I’ve been photographing these babies since they were born, well, even when they were still cozy inside momma’s womb, I love being able to watch them grow, and see how much they have changed since the last time I saw them. They had their own ideas of how their family session should go and I followed them around and let them be who they are. I take a pretty laid back approach when photographing young children and go at their speed. This toddler boy was very much on the move. The goal was to have the family sit on a blanket for a nice family photo. And guess what, despite his busy self we still got the images, don’t worry. 😉
This was taken just as he got up and ran away…
We eventually got him back over to the blanket and as mom and dad tried to settle the children I captured this beauty in between. This ended up being my favorite image from the session. I love how it shows each of their personalities and the love and connection with each parent. These are the type of images I have become personally so drawn to, and I think this family loved it too!
Their little girl at just two years old has decided that she no longer needs naps. I have totally been there myself with our third child. At two he was determined to climb out of his crib to avoid nap time. Once he was successful nap time was a thing of the past. And sure enough anytime we left the house to head out for family time, or to pick up the other children from school, within five minutes he would be sleeping away in the backseat. Well, the same happened here this evening and she fell asleep on the ride over. So she was a bit sleepy, quiet and only wanted her momma. What a perfect opportunity to capture that moment.
Thank you so much for checking back in to see what is new on the blog. I am still quite behind and haven’t been able to feature every family on the blog lately. I truly appreciate all my clients and support they have given me this year. I am fully booked through November, and currently scheduling family sessions for the spring next year. I do have one spot available for a newborn session in November. December is a month that I generally take off to spend time with my own family once the busy season comes to an end. If you are due in December and really want a Newborn Session, please get in contact as soon as possible, sessions will be extremely limited during this time. If you are interested in a family session with me, I encourage you to plan ahead and book your family for the spring or fall of next year. I am looking forward to seeing families I have worked with again next year, and meeting some new ones as well!
