In a recent social media post I asked local moms share with me, what baby products are the most important to them, the things they simply could not live without? There were so many great products, some I personally could not have lived without myself, when I was caring for a little one during their first year.
1. NoseFrida The NoseFrida was mentioned several times. I did not discover this one until my third baby, where had I been?! These are the absolute best for those little stuffy noses.
2. Sleep Sacks
Moms recommended the SwaddleMe for infants. The SwaddleMe sleep sack is an amazing option for infants. We used these with all of our babies. It gave us peace of mind knowing they were not wrapped in a blanket that could potentially become loose. They also help that little one feel snug and safe and prevent the infamous “startle reflex” you know, when their little arms fly up in the air and that once peacefully sleeping baby becomes a wide awake, unhappy baby? We’ve all been there!
Once your little one grows and no longer has a need for the infant sleep sacks, the Halo sleep sacks are amazing! These allow your baby’s arms and hands to be free, while keeping them nice and warm and preventing them from kicking off their blankets in the middle of the night. Once your little one is able to pull to standing, they even have Halo sleep sacks that allow for their feet to remain out. These can be found here.
3. Baby Carriers
I was never a baby wearer myself. I simply couldn’t figure out how to get the thing on right. But many moms swear by these. Keep those hands free for shopping, or holding the hands of your other little ones. I also know many moms that prefer the wraps. Since I have very little experience with baby wearing, I’ll share an article that may be helpful to you! Best Baby Carriers of 2019
4. Fisher Price Rock n’ Play Sleeper
OK, this is my favorite baby product of all time. And in fairness only one mom recommended it in the comments, but it must be completely overlooked because I simply could not live without mine! They’ve come a long way. It looks like they now rock themselves, who knew! This product is so easy to move from room to room. We used to even fold it up and bring it with us on day trips. And the best use we found, was when baby got their first cold. Being able to position my little one for nap time at this slight angle with that little stuffy nose, really helped them to breath easy and get some well needed rest to feel better.
5. Boppy Pillow
If you’re planning to nurse your little ones these are great for mom and baby’s comfort. They also can be used as the baby gets bigger to help assist them with sitting. When our little ones were in that weeble wobble stage, kind of sitting but not for long, we would position a boppy around them to protect their little noggin.
6. Cloth Diapers
These are a great inexpensive way to fill your burp cloth stash, or of course, as cloth diapers.
7. Zipper PJ’s
Yes! I couldn’t agree more with this recommendation. Make those frequent diaper changes a bit quicker with zipper PJ’s and do away with the snaps.
8. Mesh Feeders
There are several different brands available. They also come in silicone versions. These little feeders are wonderful for providing your baby with a safe way to eat fresh fruits and veggies.
9. Skip Hop Changing Station
On the go? Frequenting yucky public restrooms? Whip this bad boy out for a clean surface with all you need right at your finger tips!
10. Lamb & Lou’s Shopping Cart Vest
Wait, what?! I did not even know this was a thing. How many times have you had your little ones binky come flying out of their mouth and end up on the floor of a public area? This vest also keeps your little one safe in the cart. So cool! I haven’t tried one myself but this is an excellent recommendation. Thanks for sharing!
Other honorable mentions are: Mam pacifiers, clip rings that attach together for your little one to play with, and also to secure items to your baby carseat. We also discussed baby skin products. One mom recommended Aveeno. I also was a fan of their products. Another one I use is a family owned company in Ohio. I still buy their baby products for my two youngest children who have terrible eczema flare ups in the winter. Check them out Chagrin Vallery Soap they make this bum salve that is AMAZING for diaper rashes. We also always have the Baby Body Balm on hand for the eczema situations, it is the only thing that helps relieve our children’s eczema.
Thank you to all the local moms that shared their favorite items and contributed to this post!
