Sharing a recent image that I absolutely loved creating. I’m evolving in Newborn Photography this year with Fine Art Newborn Portraits.
What is fine art?
In my opinion, I would describe it as an image that is well thought out, with the perfect complimenting details, beautiful coordinating color tones, well created by someone very skilled that can later hand edit the image to really make it pop and put that artistic finishing touch.
In other blog posts I have mentioned my investment in education with some of the leading educators in our industry. Photography is something you’re never the “best” at, there is ALWAYS room for improvement, growth, and personal development. And each artist brings their own uniqueness to the table, skill level, “creative eye”, style, and level of education.
For me personally, I want to be able to create images that you would print large and hang proud in your home, images that are timeless and aren’t the new trend. Take Cake Smash Sessions for instance, they’re a trend and I often wonder, would you hang an image of your baby eating cake in your home forever? It simply doesn’t align with my vision of art. Not to bash the trend in any way, it is adorable, and I have photographed them myself and still do if an existing client asks me to, and these series of images are very well suited for a one year album, but I will try to focus the rest of the session on creating a timeless piece as well, a piece that I would hang in my own home so that I can feel confident you’ll want to do the same.
In finding my own voice through my journey, I have stopped paying attention to what others are creating, and have started to create what I want to create. To follow my heart and create something that makes me incredibly proud of what I do, how far I have become, and what I have to offer to my clients.
My recent newborn and milestone sessions in my studio have brought me so much joy. I have been so inspired that I even redecorated my entire studio to align with my vision and personal “brand” of my work.
My most recent newborn was a baby girl, who was the fifth baby and the first baby girl out of the five children. Her mom wanted images that were very “girly”, one of her color preferences was lavender. Here is the image created with this color preference in mind, and all the beautiful feminine details mom desired.
Check back in on my facebook or instagram page soon to see more from her session, and to follow me to see more of my fine art images coming this spring and summer.
